Car Hunting

I have finally decided that it is time to get rid of our 2009 Toyota Corolla. At the time we got it I thought it was perfect. However after Eoghan’s new car seat (which is about a year old) we have decided that we need a different car. Every time I put Eoghan into his seat he hits his head and looks at me and says ouch. Then gives a look that says what you do that for? It’s pretty sad.

I am now looking at a bigger car. We are almost completely debt free and don’t feel like getting a new car with a high price tag. So we are going for a used car. I can’t decide if I want a Mini Van or an SUV. They both have their pros and cons. The pro of a mini van would be being able to have so many extra seats that we can grow in to (when I say grow, I mean 1 or two more kids) and still have a couple extra seats. They get a little bit better gas mileages than an SUV. I do like that captain seats in them, to make it easier to get to the back seats. I have a hard time seeing myself driving one all the time though especially right now since I just have Eoghan.

I’m considering a Ford Escape, Subaru Forester, and Mazda Tribute. I like the Subaru however I can’t find one in my price range that has under a 100,000 miles. Which I know they last long and rate well on Consumer reports. I have a hard time buying one with over a hundred thousand miles. So… as of now I am ruling that one out. My Dad thinks the Ford Escape would work well because he thinks the backs are spacious (I want a big back area for road trip luggage, stroller and that kinda of stuff). I have found the Mazda Tribute at a dealer and I like the general car of it but. not the one from the dealer. The previous owner smoked in it and I’m not too fond of the interior (they say it’s tan, but more of a brown color, that I don’t think is a nice brown, calls me weird). I was very lucky to have found one on KSL. com and am hoping to go out and see it on Saturday. It sounds nicer than the one from the dealership. It is a couple years newer than the dealership. I am keeping my fingers crossed that it is nicer because that would be the car I’d get. I love to be in an SUV so I am taller and it is so nice and spacious. I still have the one from the dealer that I am returning today and putting Eoghan’s seat in that and having him get in it was easy and nice. So as of this Saturday I might have a new car!! That would be exciting

You'll be grateful for something bigger. Some SUV's like mine, get better gas milage than a mini-van.. It depends on the year and stuff. Some mini vans have no back storage either.. something to keep in mind.

We were debt free other than our home.. and we put money down on a used Suburban, so it was more affordable.

If KSL doesn't work, we have a friend that's a private dealer and he can get you any car you want for the price you want to pay.. He's awesome. He goes to the auctions, and we have been happy with him. If you need his number, I'll give it to you..
